“The event was very well organized and it was encouraging to meet so many like-minded individuals. It was also important to go through such a multi-faceted evaluation process-- indicative of a sincere desire to make this program succeed.”
- Interview Event attendee, April 6, 2009
Once the application has been reviewed, a candidate may be invited to attend an Interview Event. Individuals can check the status of their application and, if invited, sign up for an interview through our online system. If invited to interview, candidates are encouraged to schedule the interview date right away, as spots fill quickly. Please note that an invitation to an interview event does not guarantee a spot at an interview event. Interview sign-up occurs on a first-come-first-serve basis and once an event is full it will be closed.
Interview Events are designed to give you the opportunity to share your strengths with Rhode Island Teaching Fellows staff and to learn more about our program.. Please note that due to a high volume of applications not all candidates will be invited to interview.
If you are invited to interview, you will be asked to:
- Teach a five-minute sample lesson
- Structure a written response to a classroom scenario
- Participate in a group discussion centered around a topical issue in education
- Engage in a one-on-one interview with a representative of the Fellows program
An Interview Event lasts approximately five to six hours and includes a chance to interact with other candidates and Rhode Island Teaching Fellows staff. Interview Events typically take place on Saturdays at various locations in Rhode Island public schools.
Please note: While we recognize that some candidates will be traveling to Rhode Island for their interviews and understand that coordinating travel plans can be difficult, we are unable to make scheduling exceptions or to accommodate last-minute requests. Attendance at an Interview Event is required of any candidate seeking enrollment in RITF.
For candidates traveling to Rhode Island for an interview, we strongly advise that the Interview Event be scheduled and confirmed before making travel arrangements.
